6 tips to become the best host this holiday season

It’s already the end of the year and we’re left with the thought, “Wasn’t it April just a month ago?” Despite the slight time crisis, there’s one thing we’re not panicking about—hosting during the holiday season. Whether you’ve voluntarily or involuntarily signed up to become the holiday host, we’ve got you covered with 6 useful tips.

These tips will keep you organized and sane (and get you the vote as the best holiday host ever).

1. Make house rules

As simple as this may sound, it’s crucial to lay down the house rules for all your guests. Set some ground rules such as making sure the last person to drink the rest of the coffee should refill the pot. Make them clear but not overly demanding.

2. Send out check lists

Probably one of the most crucial tips to remember is that the holiday season is about family and the food. Understand everyone’s food preferences and allergies by sending out an email checklist. It will help with all the meal prepping and ensure that everyone can enjoy their food.

3. Have a second in command

Don’t be afraid to ask a trusted friend or family member to help you out during this time. It never hurts to have another person to keep everything in order. They’ll be there to keep an eye on things and see that you don’t overexert yourself.

4. Plan out your meals

Tackle your meal prepping by breaking down the cooking into small, manageable tasks. From grocery shopping to making the sides, make sure that you have ample time to prep everything. Schedule out your tasks over the course of several days so you’re not overwhelmed.

5. Spruce up the space beforehand

While you’re preparing your home for guests, schedule out your cleaning too. You can vacuum everything on one day, put out all the bedding another, and so on. But if you’re in a small space and don’t have enough beds to accommodate everyone, we recommend Coddle’s Toggle Couch

Coddle Toggle Couch

With the Toggle Couch, you can go from daytime sofa to afternoon lounging or to a comfy bed within seconds. It’s durable and made out of high-quality fabrics so it’s stain-resistant and any eggnog spilling can easily be wiped away. You won’t have to worry about providing an extra bed or tidying up extra bedsheets.

6. Remember to enjoy yourself 🙂

And lastly, don’t get too wrapped up (pun intended) in being a good host. A great host should remember that this is about them as much as it for their guests.
